About Us
At Bucks Dental Hygienist Services, we are dedicated to improving the oral health and overall well-being of care home residents. Our journey began after carefully reviewing the findings of the 2019 Care Quality Commission (CQC) report on oral healthcare in care homes. The report highlighted critical gaps in access and care, inspiring us to create a solution that meets the unique needs of care home residents.
We identified three main challenges faced by care homes in ensuring their residents receive proper dental hygiene care:
Logistics
Many residents are unable to travel to dental practices due to physical barriers such as stairs, limited wheelchair access, or transport difficulties.
Dementia Care
Residents with dementia often find it challenging—or even impossible—to receive treatment in unfamiliar environments, which can lead to heightened anxiety and refusal of care
Cost
The expense of arranging specialised transport, such as wheelchair-accessible taxis, coupled with the need for a carer to accompany residents, can make dental visits prohibitively expensive
These challenges motivated us to establish Bucks Dental Hygienist Services, a domiciliary dental hygiene service that brings compassionate, high-quality oral care directly to the comfort of care homes.
Our mission is to ensure every care home resident receives the oral healthcare they deserve, without the stress and obstacles associated with traditional dental visits. By working closely with care home staff and families, we provide a seamless, professional service that prioritises the individual needs of each resident, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and health remain our top priorities.
